On Thursday Cuba’s government said it would “recognize and regulate” Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for payments on the island, Bloomberg reported.

The local Cuban Official Gazette published a resolution which stated that the central bank will create rules for Bitcoin and other crypto to determine licensing laws for providers of crypto services on the island.

The resolution stated the Central Bank has power to authorize the use of Bitcoin and other crypto for “reasons of socioeconomic interest”, according to Bloomberg. The resolution also said that the state will act as a check over the bank’s operations, and forbade the bank’s use of Bitcoin for “illegal activities”.

“Because of tough embargo rules in Cuba it has become difficult to use dollars, and as a result the popularity of Bitcoin has grown among Cuba’s technologically savvy.”

Bitcoin is nearing $40,000 this Monday as a new week gets underway with a bang for bulls.

Spot BTC price action is, naturally, the topic on everyone’s radar at present — in 24 hours, Bitcoin has sealed gains of nearly 15%.

An anonymous source within Amazon has reportedly told London business newspaper City A.M. that the e-commerce giant is planning to start accepting Bitcoin (BTC) payments by the end of 2021, possibly setting the stage for broader mainstream acceptance of crypto transactions. 

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future — this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work,” the source told City A.M., according to a report published on Sunday.

The source indicated that, while Bitcoin is the first step in Amazon’s crypto ambitions, executives at the company were keen to add other established cryptocurrencies in the future. The “directive is coming from the very top,” referring to Jeff Bezos, they said, adding: 

“This entire project is pretty much ready to roll.”

Justin Bennett tells his 61,600 Twitter followers that he expects Bitcoin to launch a staggering rally, well above the six-figure level, should the leading cryptocurrency shatter its current all-time high of $65,000.

Amazon denied reports it will accept Bitcoin payments soon, but seemingly, it’s only a matter of time before the tech giants embrace the token economy.

Maybe Amazon really isn’t preparing to accept BTC as payment for its goods and services before year’s end, and perhaps Apple isn’t in fact adding $2.5 billion of Bitcoin to its balance sheet — although both events were reported recently, they are still unconfirmed. The question still remains: If and when the tech giants do commit, what impact will they have on the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry?

Would it spur crypto adoption or revive Bitcoin as a medium of exchange? Would it confer a seal of approval on digital assets and discourage governments from clamping down on blockchain-based tokens?

Bitcoin is facing a “double bubble” and will see two BTC price tops this year, fresh data suggests.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Charles Edwards, CEO of investment firm Capriole, highlighted 2021 as having one key similarity to the 2013 double top bull cycle.

“New evidence for a Bitcoin double bubble,” he summarized.

“In prior cycle tops, bounces were never able to hold unrealized profit and loss above 0.5. Only the 2013 double bubble and today have achieved this.”
