Analyst Who Predicted Bitcoin Crash to $6,500 Says BTC Gearing Up for Major Move

One of the few analysts to predict the start of Bitcoin’s 2019 retreat says BTC may be due for another correction.

The pseudonymous analyst Dave the Wave tells his 25,000 followers on Twitter that he believes the leading cryptocurrency remains in a descending triangle that dates back to late 2018.

Following this script, he expects a short-term bounce before another sell-off that could bring BTC to $8,300 sometime between March and May.

Based on the analyst’s chart, that short-term bounce could send Bitcoin close to $9,500 this month before the correction begins.

Dave makes this prediction based on a reversing logarithmic moving average convergence and divergence (LMACD).

Bitcoin (BTC) is looking like it will hit $75,000 — and that could happen “within weeks,” one analyst has found. 

Uploading a fresh BTC/USD price chart to Twitter on June 7, Cane Island Alternative Advisors’ Timothy Peterson unearthed an uncanny similarity to Bitcoin in 2013.

Tracking the Bitcoin price recovery from its lows of $3,600 in mid-March, Peterson noted that its recovery almost exactly tracked price action from seven years ago. 

The result, he argued, could keep up the copycat move: BTC topped out at $1,300 in 2013, and a similar 700% bull run at today’s prices would give a target of $75,000.

“The 2020 bitcoin recovery has tracked the 2013a recovery almost perfectly. Are we weeks away from $75,000?”

While such a spike seems unlikely, Bitcoin is already exhibiting strong signs that it is in recovery mode from lows that will never reappear.

Specifically, miner activity and associated data have mimicked December 2018, when Bitcoin bounced out of a year-long bear market at $3,100.

Nonetheless, comparing today’s Bitcoin market with that of 2013 is all but impossible.

At the time, Mt. Gox was the only major exchange, itself imploding to cause a massive price crash.

Many argue that Mt. Gox was responsible for the run to $1,300.

Bitcoin (BTC) Will Shatter $520,000 According to New Stock-to-Flow Model – Here’s When It Would Happen

A new twist on the Bitcoin stock-to-flow model (S2F) suggests the crypto king will blow past $520,000 – but it may take a while.

A pseudonymous quantitative analyst named QuantMario says PlanB’s popular S2F ratio, which divides the amount of BTC in circulation by the amount of Bitcoin mined per year, is overly bullish.

“After the fifth halving in about eight years from now, the original S2F model predicts the Bitcoin market capitalization to be higher than the value of all the property in the world: equities, real estate, fiat money, gold, etc. Sounds impossible? Right.”

Crypt∞li, an editor at the crypto exchange startup SAFEX, says the new model, which shows BTC will make a slow and steady march to about $520,000 over the next two decades, places more realistic expectations on miner profitability and the overall use of electricity on the network.

“The S2F model’s output basically demands a 10x price increase from one cycle to the next cycle. If a constant profitability of miners is assumed (equilibrium of price and miner adoption), then the mining effort has to quintuple every four years – the combination of a tenfold increase of price and a halving of the block reward results in a five-fold increase of reward in fiat currency every four years.”

To address these issues, the adjusted S2F model predicts a significantly slower pace of growth for BTC.

In contrast, PlanB’s model predicts Bitcoin will hit $1 million by 2028.

BITCOIN PRICE PLUMMETS TO $3,858 ON COINBASE

On Friday morning, many crypto exchanges saw the BTC price tumbling to a daily low at around $3,800, after which it quickly returned to above $4,000.

On Coinbase, the king of crypto hit a daily low at $3,858, while on Bitfinex it stopped at $4,001.

The last time when Bitcoin (BTC) was trading below $4,000 was in April 2019, so the cryptocurrency touched the lowest level in almost a year.

This is by far one of the worst weeks for Bitcoin. Since Monday, it has lost 53% to its recent bottom. Last Friday, it traded above $9,100, and has lost 58% since then.

However, most of the pain came yesterday, when bears tested one support level after another.

Initially, Bitcoin fell to around $7,500, which was a strong support line of an uptrend that started to form in April last year.

Once it broke below it, the price plummeted and ignored any logic. Bulls were crashed and the updating lows imposed traders to close their positions en masse, which fueled the panic.

Panic has been the norm this week not only for the crypto market. The stock markets also crashed to multi-year lows, with US and European indexes experiencing their worst declines in over 30 years.

The trigger point of all this economic horror is the coronavirus outbreak that started in China and spread to Europe, South Korea, Iran, and other regions.

The price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia has also had an impact, as oil prices crashed 30% on Monday, which was the biggest single-day decline since the Gulf War in 1991.

The crypto market couldn’t remain indifferent to the economic shock and has lost half of its value this week, falling to below $140 billion.

It has lost over $90 billion in the last 24 alone.

Bitcoin Under $1K Is Possible Warns Veteran Trader Peter Brandt Veteran trader Peter Brandt — who is famous for correctly predicting the market crash from the all time high — today tweeted an answer that no one wanted to hear in response to an inquiry about the new ‘bottom’ for Bitcoin due to coronavirus.

Brandt said that if he looks at the Bitcoin chart “without bias” the new bottom is potentially “sub-$1,000”.

That’s almost 80% below the current price, which is just under $5000.

The one time commodities analyst is no crypto skeptic — in fact, he’s often more bullish than bearish about Bitcoin, and believes that parabolic increases in the Bitcoin chart could see it hit $140,000.

Brandt also correctly tipped a price spike during the depths of crypto winter shortly before the Bitcoin price doubled in mid-July.
